Quote: shade sail
E.g.: triangular or rectangular sail above a terrace

A tensioned sail can shade a terrace without a rigid roof. Its light appearance says nothing about the forces on its anchors. Define the desired shade, then suitable supports and removal when required by the instructions. Fabric price alone is not the installed project cost.
Map shade rather than just fabric
State orientation, times, table position and paths. Show seasonal shade: the fabric outline is not the ground shadow at every hour. Allow room for tensioners and appropriate headroom. With several sails, assess interaction and forces at shared anchors.
Choose fabric for its purpose
Request reference, colour, water permeability and documented solar properties. Water-permeable fabric is not rain shelter. Even waterproof fabric needs suitable geometry and operating conditions: specify drainage, prevention of pooling and weather limits. Waterproofing does not remove monitoring or removal requirements.
Assess anchors
Show walls, insulation, posts and proposed structures. Coolaroo calls for design appropriate to soil, supports and wind and warns against overtensioning. Have fixings and foundations selected for the whole installation; an existing pergola, tree or railing is not automatically a suitable anchor.
Make removal practical
Have release, removal, reinstallation and adjustment demonstrated without improvising under tension. Coolaroo recommends taking its sails down before severe weather. Request your model's instructions and how to act in advance; seasonal or permanent does not mean unlimited wind resistance.
Plan care and location
Allow dry storage, cleaning according to instructions, seam and hardware inspection and replacement access. Confirm formalities for posts and fixings with the municipality and relevant owners; removable does not automatically mean exempt. Avoid a universal lifespan for every fabric.
Indicative prices in Luxembourg
On quotation
Compare shape, dimensions, fabric, hardware, posts and anchoring work on the same layout. Add surveying, fitting and a removal demonstration. Existing supports and a project needing new foundations are different scopes.
Subsidies and grants
No grant is deducted from the budget shown here. If a quote mentions support, request the exact scheme and confirmation of your eligibility before including it in financing.
Frequently asked questions
Does waterproof mean suitable for all weather?
No. Check geometry, drainage and model conditions.
Can several sails share a post?
Only after checking combined forces and their directions.
Must every sail come down on a fixed date?
Follow instructions and weather; no single date fits all systems.
Is fabric price enough to compare?
No. Include supports, fixings, fitting and handling.
