Separate assessment, materials and access
Ask for the initial assessment price and whether it is included in the work. Specify lengths, accessories, connections and access equipment. Identify open items rather than treating a provisional estimate as a fixed price.
Compare equivalent making good
Check protection, removal of existing elements, masonry and finishes. A tube-only quote cannot be compared with complete renovation. Ask how difficulties discovered after opening will be charged.
Avoid assuming blanket compliance
