Quote: powered driveway gate
E.g.: motorised swing gate, automatic sliding gate

Describe the entrance with photos, the clear width you need and available opening space. Include slope, pedestrian access, frequency of use and the electrical supply location. Explain whether you want to automate an existing manual gate or replace the complete installation. These projects require different checks and work.
Survey movement space
For a swing gate, have the opening sweep assessed against slope, parked vehicles and pavement. For a sliding gate, identify side clearance and whether it uses a ground track or cantilever system. A slope does not automatically make sliding suitable. Confirm positioning and procedures with the municipality before ordering.
Assess the existing gate
Have leaves, hinges or guides, stops and supports checked before proposing automation. Ask what repairs come first and whether the drive suits the assembly, exposure and usage. A gate opening manually does not establish that it can be safely automated.
Assess protection as a system
HSE describes safety as depending on the complete installation, trapping zones, protective devices, controls and maintenance. Photocells alone therefore do not establish safety. This British technical source does not define Luxembourg legal obligations.
Plan handover and emergency access
Ask for completed checks, applicable conformity documents and instructions. Have the planned emergency release demonstrated, particularly if this is your only entrance. Distinguish pedestrian access, vehicle opening and remote control. Obtain maintenance instructions and a fault service contact.

On quotation
Separate the gate, supports, drive, safeguards and electrical supply. Compare completed, commissioned and documented installations. A motor kit price is not the cost of converting an entrance; groundworks, wiring and reinstatement can be separate items.
Subsidies and grants
No grant is deducted from the budget shown here. If a quote mentions support, request the exact scheme and confirmation of your eligibility before including it in financing.
Frequently asked questions
Does sliding suit every slope?
No. Position, guides and supports must be assessed for the actual entrance.
Can I retain my gate?
Have the assembly assessed before buying a kit; adaptation or replacement may be needed.
How do I open it during a power cut?
Have the specified procedure demonstrated, including access from outside where needed.
Does an intercom replace safeguards?
No. It controls access; protection around gate movement requires separate assessment.
