Quote: timber or composite decking
E.g.: deck on pedestals, composite boards

Describe ground or existing slab, thresholds, final height and intended uses. Add photos and dimensions. Then select a complete system of boards, framing, supports and fixings. Appearance alone cannot validate the project.
Check the supporting system
Silvadec states that its composite joist is non-structural and unsuitable for pedestals. Exact product references and instructions therefore matter. Do not transfer an installation option to every product with the same material name.
Describe loads and junctions
Mention a spa, large planters, outdoor kitchen or other equipment before design. Have the whole system, including supports, checked; a solid board or dense timber is not load approval. Address thresholds, water drainage, maintenance access and fall protection for the configuration. Confirm municipal requirements before work.
Compare identified samples
For timber, request species, provenance, characteristics and any treatment. For composite, obtain reference, finish and documentation. Examine a sample in its intended exposure and discuss slip behaviour, barefoot use and appearance changes using product data. Do not infer unchanging colour or lifespan from material alone.
Arrange maintenance
Silvadec's guide requires composite cleaning: no oiling does not mean no care. Obtain instructions for the actual range. For timber, distinguish necessary care, chosen decorative finish and accepted colour changes.
Indicative prices in Luxembourg
On quotation
Compare the complete deck from supporting ground to finishing. Specify board references, framing, supports, fixings and actual coverage. A raised deck and installation on an existing slab cannot be compared through board prices alone.
Subsidies and grants
No grant is deducted from the budget shown here. If a quote mentions support, request the exact scheme and confirmation of your eligibility before including it in financing.
Frequently asked questions
Does a solid board allow a spa?
No. Have operating weight and its support through the entire structure checked first.
Can pedestals stand on any ground?
Have ground and suitable supports assessed; height adjustment does not establish soil stability.
Must timber be tropical?
No. Request a species and solution suited to the project rather than treating origin as a guarantee.
Does composite eliminate cleaning?
No. Follow the installed product's instructions and retain its documentation.
