Quote: tree pruning
E.g.: large tree pruning, height trimming

Explain the reason for considering pruning: a broken branch, clearance, young-tree development or an observed change. Include whole-tree photos from a safe location, its position and nearby obstacles. Ask for tree-by-tree work descriptions rather than blanket cutting back of every tree in the garden.
Define the pruning objective
ISA says cuts need a reason and poor pruning can damage trees. It distinguishes considered reduction from topping, which can promote stress and decay. Have the intended result explained before agreeing to height reduction.
Clarify assessment and decision
Ask whether the proposal includes a pricing visit or a documented tree assessment. Identify affected branches, objectives and limits. A fungus or cavity alone cannot determine a pruning decision remotely. Monitoring may also be part of the proposal.
Identify overhead lines first
Creos asks for contact with its pruning service for necessary work near its network and warns never to touch a branch on a line. Identify lines in the request and do not approach them to take photos.
Arrange work and follow-up
Confirm tree, wildlife and location conditions with competent contacts, such as the municipality or ANF as appropriate. Do not assume a universal pruning season. Ask for access method, protection of people and property, branch handling and a report. Set follow-up for the tree and work rather than automatic two-year intervals.

On quotation
Compare work on the same trees with the same objective and branch handling. Height describes neither work scope nor organisation. Separate any assessment, pruning, access equipment, protection, chipping, transport and cleanup.
Subsidies and grants
No grant is deducted from the budget shown here. If a quote mentions support, request the exact scheme and confirmation of your eligibility before including it in financing.
Frequently asked questions
Does every tree need regular pruning?
Ask for tree-specific need and follow-up; one schedule does not fit all trees.
Does the visit include a health assessment?
Define observations, limitations and documents; a pricing visit differs from a documented assessment.
Can I simply request cutting off the top?
Ask for a justified response to the problem, its consequences and alternatives rather than a height imposed without assessment.
What about power lines?
Identify them and coordinate with the relevant network operator before work. Do not work yourself on branches near or touching lines.
