Start with tasks and shadows
Locate worktops, table, reading area and routes. Discuss awkward shadows and glare from normal positions. A regular ceiling grid alone does not establish a suitable lighting design.
Identify exact light sources
EPREL includes luminous flux, colour temperature and cap type for registered models. Energy labels show efficiency class and consumption. Compare exact references; electrical consumption alone does not describe lighting in the room.
Check the control chain
Confirm source, driver and dimmer compatibility and low-level behaviour. For connected controls, ask what works at the switch and during internet loss. An LED label does not guarantee every function.
Consider ceiling and maintenance
Identify existing ceiling, insulation, wet rooms and access. Have installation, wall performance and product instructions checked professionally. Ask how sources or drivers can be replaced without damaging finishes.
Test at handover
Check controls, lit areas and agreed dimming with the installer. Keep references and instructions. For effects difficult to judge on plans, ask about a sample or trial before final ordering.
