Quote: home automation and smart homes
E.g.: centralised control of shutters, heating and lighting from an app

List desired actions by room and existing device references. Separate remote control, automation and consumption monitoring. Send plans and proposed electrical work so the solution can be assessed against the building.
Describe the required scenario
For example, define who closes blinds, from which control and what must work without a phone. Separate sent commands from status feedback. Identify existing heating equipment and regulation so compatibility is checked before promising control.
Identify architecture and power
KNX includes TP, RF and IP media. Request the layout, gateways, controllers and power supplies rather than treating KNX as the opposite of radio. Have routes or radio coverage checked on site.
Define offline tests
CSA describes Matter as local communication, with an internet-connected controller for away-from-home use. Test important functions without internet and identify account, app and server dependencies. A protocol logo does not describe the whole service.
Prepare transfer and maintenance
Include plans, device list, backups and agreed access in the quote. Ask how another provider would take over configuration and how updates, account removal and component failure are managed.
Indicative prices in Luxembourg
On quotation
Price identical functions rather than module count. Separate equipment, fitting, configuration, integration and training. Add recurring costs over an explicit period. KNX or wireless wording alone establishes no universal reliability level or total cost.
Subsidies and grants
No grant is deducted from the budget shown here. If a quote mentions support, request the exact scheme and confirmation of your eligibility before including it in financing.
Frequently asked questions
Does wireless mean no work?
No. Power, access and adaptations may still be required.
Does a gateway make everything compatible?
No. Request actually supported references and functions.
Does it replace an alarm?
Do not assume so. Automation or notification does not establish alarm functions and guarantees.
Can energy savings be guaranteed?
Not by selecting a system alone. Define baseline, use and measurement method.
