Quote: intercom and video entry system
E.g.: replacing an audio intercom with a video doorphone

Describe the entrance, number of homes and required functions: conversation, seeing visitors or opening the door. Send existing model references. In shared buildings, identify communal equipment before buying a unit for your home alone.
Assess the complete system
Identify panel, units, power, cables and door control. Existing wires or their count do not establish compatibility. Ask what can stay and which checks support that conclusion.
Match occupants’ needs
State where calls should arrive, how they are noticed and who opens. Try audio, display and controls where possible. Do not assume every occupant can use a smartphone; define needed alternatives.
Specify connected functions
Ask about exact network needs, local operation and loss of internet, app or subscription. Confirm access sharing, user changes and updates. Not every entry panel relies on Wi-Fi.
Limit camera coverage
If the device also monitors or records, assess framing and image use. CNPD restricts the domestic exemption to private activity and considers domestic filming of street or neighbouring property disproportionate. A shared installation is not automatically equivalent.
Test calls and opening
Check every unit, conversation, agreed picture and door command with the installer. Clarify power-loss behaviour and access arrangements. Obtain instructions, settings and agreed administrator rights.

On quotation
Compare a working system: panel, indoor units, power, wiring and release interface. A handset replacement is not a new shared installation. Request compatible references and included functions, separating recurring services and upkeep.
Subsidies and grants
No grant is deducted from the budget shown here. If a quote mentions support, request the exact scheme and confirmation of your eligibility before including it in financing.
Frequently asked questions
Can old wires stay?
Check the complete system and route. Wire count alone does not prove compatibility.

Is subscription mandatory?
Model and function dependent. Ask for functions available with and without subscription.
Can I replace only my handset?
Check compatibility and responsibility for shared equipment before purchase.
