For external insulation with a rendered finish, request the complete system description, often called ETICS. Assess the existing wall, available space and junctions before selecting compatible components and the performance target. The insulation material’s name alone does not define the work.
Identify a rendered system
Buildwise distinguishes ETICS from insulated cladding and prefabricated insulated facing kits. Request system and component references: insulation, fixings, reinforced layer, finish and accessories. Separately selected products do not establish compatibility.
Approve the substrate before installation
Buildwise separates substrate checks and ETICS handover. Assess existing layers, weak areas, moisture and repairs. Ask how suitability for proposed fixings will be checked and which parts need removal beforehand.
Do not reduce performance to thickness
