Quote: timber façade cladding
E.g.: larch cladding, red cedar cladding, horizontal or vertical boards

Specify the façades, desired pattern and colour changes you accept. Request species, board quality, finish and complete assembly. A new sample cannot show how differently exposed parts will weather.
Choose a product, not just a species
Request species, documented origin, grade, profile and suitability for the intended use. Specify treatment and finish. Douglas fir or larch alone does not describe every available board or guarantee suitability for every exposure.
Plan boards and backing structure
Define vertical, horizontal or open-jointed installation in a layout. For the vertical assembly in its FAQ, Buildwise identifies battens and counter-battens to maintain ventilation. Ask for the chosen assembly and air paths to be justified rather than copying universal spacing.
Detail exposed interfaces
Specify base, corners, board ends, sills, roof connections and protection behind open joints. Ask for suitable fixings, movement provisions and applicable fire requirements. Open-jointed appearance still requires a defined assembly behind it.
Accept or limit colour change
Buildwise relates greying to species, treatment and exposure. Sheltered and exposed parts may therefore change differently. Request comparable aged examples; species or good ventilation alone cannot ensure uniform colour.
Plan accessible upkeep
For a finish, request upkeep suited to product and exposure and the required access. Do not assume one renewal interval for every wall. Plan inspection, appropriate cleaning and local board replacement even if greying is acceptable.
Separate cladding and insulation
Ask whether insulation, its build-up and junctions are included. Visible timber does not establish thermal performance or grant eligibility. Check project procedures before ordering.
Indicative prices in Luxembourg
On quotation
Compare boards and everything needed to install them: subframe, fixings, protection, corners, reveals and access. Separate decorative cladding from a full insulation project. Timber supply price alone cannot rank installed offers.
Subsidies and grants
No grant is deducted from the budget shown here. If a quote mentions support, request the exact scheme and confirmation of your eligibility before including it in financing.
Frequently asked questions
Will greying be uniform?
Not necessarily. Species, treatment and exposure affect change.
Is an oil finish always required?
Select a finish for the desired appearance and actual product. There is no universal choice.
Does timber alone qualify for Klimabonus?
No. Support depends on the full project and scheme conditions.
Can one board be replaced?
Confirm access and removal methods for the chosen assembly.
Which species lasts longest?
Product, exposure, details and upkeep also matter. No universal lifespan is guaranteed here.
