Specify substrate, known old coatings, peeling areas and desired colour. Repainting requires checks of wall condition and layer compatibility. It should not conceal unexplained damp or cracks.
Identify existing coatings
Ask whether the old coating is known or requires trials. Buildwise recommends compatible systems over lime paint and examination of unknown layers. Existing lime paint and unpainted lime render are not the same substrate.
Read actual product properties
Dörken lists vapour and water behaviour separately for its siloxane-reinforced acrylic AcryloSil. Request your product’s properties and suitability for the wall. A family name alone does not classify every paint.
Define preparation
Specify cleaning, removal of loose coatings, repairs and any primer. High pressure, biocide and primer should not be automatic for every wall. Request justification, instructions and compatibility for any treatment.
Choose colour and appearance
Approve a sample, sheen and possible repair differences. On insulation systems, confirm permitted colours. Check local procedures for appearance changes; a commercial colour chart is not permission.
Plan for conditions
Request wall, moisture, temperature, weather and recoating requirements. A fixed interval after washing does not establish readiness. Distinguish primer and finish layers rather than guaranteeing results from one universal coat count.
Accept and maintain
Agree completed areas, reservations and colour corrections. Keep references and cleaning instructions. Water-repellent paint does not remove the need to repair defects or guarantee years before renovation.
