Quote: bespoke bookcase
E.g.: E.g.: floor-to-ceiling bookcase, living room or study

A bookcase must hold your collection while leaving high shelves and nearby equipment accessible. List formats, quantities, heavy objects and closed storage needs. Bespoke design can suit the room; loads and stability still need checking.
Turn the collection into a plan
Describe large books, records, boxes and space for future additions. Specify internal depth, clear height and shelf adjustment. Mark skirtings, doors and sockets; request a plan showing door movements and passage too.
Specify shelves and supports
Communicate contents and loads. Have the joiner determine material, thickness, span and supports. Solid timber or a generic 90 cm limit cannot establish capacity. Distinguish shelves, carcasses, backs and fronts; veneer describes a surface, not the entire panel.
Plan stability and fixing
Identify wall construction and request fixing designed for the loaded assembly. IKEA’s anti-tip guidance calls for wall-appropriate fixing; it is not a design calculation for your bookcase. Have uncertain substrates assessed by the installer.
Arrange accessories and care
Keep lighting supply and controls accessible. For a ladder, request a system compatible with the structure and its instructions; shelves are not steps. Near heating equipment, have clearances and access checked against its instructions. Obtain finish-specific care rather than a universal oiling interval.
Anticipate dismantling and change
If you may move, ask which modules dismantle, how fixing will be renewed and which finishes need repair. Identify replaceable shelves and fittings. Dismantling capability does not guarantee a fit in another room.
Indicative prices in Luxembourg
On quotation
Compare the whole project at matching height, depth, bay layout and equipment. A price per metre of frontage describes neither storage capacity nor manufacture and installation work.
Subsidies and grants
No grant is deducted from the budget shown here. If a quote mentions support, request the exact scheme and confirmation of your eligibility before including it in financing.
Frequently asked questions
Does solid wood prevent all deformation?
No. Design must account for material, supports and load.
Could flat-pack work?
Yes if dimensions, capacity and installation conditions meet the need; compare solutions.
Does a glazed door protect books?
Do not assume light protection or dust sealing without precise characteristics.
Can the bookcase be moved?
It depends on joints, fixing and dimensions. Plan dismantling where needed.
What delivery time should I expect?
The project-specific agreement after drawing approval and material availability, not a universal duration.
