A closed wall bed frees the room for another use, but its cabinet remains and the bed must open without obstruction. Assess both positions and the transition. Furniture, mechanism and mattress must form a compatible assembly installed for the actual substrate.
Draw both room uses
Show closed footprint, open bed and moving envelope. Mark ceiling, light, doors, window, radiator and circulation. For a desk combination, ask what must leave the desktop and where the chair goes. A horizontal model is not automatically suitable for every low room.
Identify the complete system
Request reference, instructions, permitted use and load limits of the assembled model. Clei describes specific locks on Penelope 2; not every mechanism has the same devices. Establish who validates integration into bespoke cabinetry.
Choose the mattress with the mechanism
LGM 2.0 documentation links mattress mass to system operation. Do not select width and length alone: obtain permitted thickness, mass and bedding. Have compatibility of an existing mattress and future replacement conditions confirmed.
Define anchoring and commissioning
Have the installer assess substrate and fixing for the system. The November 2024 US Dorel recall concerned wall detachment: an illustration of installation risk, not evidence that all wall beds are defective. Request demonstration with the intended bedding and instructions for abnormal movement.
Plan use and maintenance
Check users can operate it according to instructions; do not promise effortless one-handed movement. For a child’s room, confirm permitted use and manufacturer instructions explicitly. Obtain care, spare-parts and relocation procedures; do not improvise lubrication or spring alterations.
