Quote: carpet and linoleum flooring
E.g.: carpet for a bedroom, linoleum for a kitchen

Textile carpet and linoleum are different flooring products. Choose by room, traffic, furniture and practical care. For offices or stairs, request a reference explicitly suitable for that use rather than judging only fibre or feel.
Identify material and format
Forbo distinguishes linoleum, made using linseed oil among other ingredients, from PVC. Informal lino terminology can be ambiguous. Request reference, composition and actual format. Natural alone does not establish a better environmental footprint: request an environmental declaration and applicable end-of-life route.
Define the acoustic result
The consulted Interface sheet separates sound absorption and impact-sound improvement. Specify less reverberation in the room or less transmission downstairs. Request performance for the actual backing and assembly without extending one range’s results to every carpet.
Plan fixing and junctions
Survey substrate, moisture, flatness, doors and transitions. Request fixing method, sheet or tile layout, pattern direction and acceptable visible seams. For stairs, define nosings and retention for the product; decorative rods are not a universal fixing guarantee.
Include care and replacement
Obtain product- and traffic-specific care instructions. Forbo distinguishes maintenance by linoleum and finish: do not assume every product needs waxing. For carpet tiles, establish replacement conditions, spare stock and possible colour differences between old and new.
Avoid health promises as a selection basis
Assurance Maladie recommends limiting carpets in dust-mite allergy in its allergic-asthma guidance. A treatment does not guarantee absence of allergens. With a known allergy, seek your doctor’s guidance rather than relying on antibacterial advertising.
Indicative prices in Luxembourg
On quotation
Specify material, format, quantity, preparation and fixing in the budget. Carpet tiles, broadloom and linoleum do not automatically involve identical work under one assumed installation price.
Subsidies and grants
No grant is deducted from the budget shown here. If a quote mentions support, request the exact scheme and confirmation of your eligibility before including it in financing.
Frequently asked questions
Is linoleum PVC?
No. Clarify the material behind the informal lino label.
Is wool always more durable?
Do not choose by fibre alone. Check permitted use and product performance.
Does acoustic mean insulation between floors?
Not necessarily. Room absorption and impact sound are distinct.
Does every linoleum need waxing?
No. Follow the actual finish’s care instructions instead of a universal treatment.
Will a replacement tile be invisible?
Not guaranteed: colour, batch, wear and orientation can differ.
