Quote: indoor floor tiling
E.g.: large-format porcelain stoneware tiling for a living room

Specify room, use, substrate and intended appearance. Wood effect, large format or porcelain alone does not determine the installation assembly. Gather plans, references and constraints before requesting quotations.
Choose relevant properties
Buildwise distinguishes water absorption, stain resistance, wear and slip behaviour. Low porosity does not make every finish stain-proof. Request properties suited to the room, especially if wet; indoor use does not remove slip concerns.
Survey substrate and levels
Assess stability, cracks, moisture, flatness and available height. If retaining old tiles, request justification of suitability and assembly. Account for doors, appliances and thresholds and specify checks still needed after removal.
Approve layout and bonding
Draw axes, perimeter cuts, transitions and pattern direction. Define bonding by tile, substrate and product: Weber documents different methods for different mortars. Large-format labelling does not replace this specification or suitable preparation.
Draw assembly joints
Distinguish tile joints, edges and movement joints. Buildwise explains that a decoupling mat does not automatically eliminate screed joints. Specify the plan, any heating and water-exposed details.
Agree handover and use
Agree alignment, levels, appearance, finishing and product-specific waiting times. Isolated hollow sound alone does not diagnose debonding; Buildwise considers extent, joints and movement. Have defects examined rather than concealed.
Indicative prices in Luxembourg
On quotation
Budget for tiles and the work needed to install them: possible removal, preparation, bonding, joints, cuts and finishing. Compare the same measured area without assuming format explains every price difference.
Subsidies and grants
No grant is deducted from the budget shown here. If a quote mentions support, request the exact scheme and confirmation of your eligibility before including it in financing.
Frequently asked questions
Is porcelain always stain-proof?
No. Check the chosen finish’s properties and care requirements.
Does large format always need the same adhesive?
No. Tile, substrate and documented application determine the system.
Does a mat remove every joint?
No. Specify assembly joints; decoupling does not automatically make them unnecessary.
Can old tiles remain?
Substrate, adhesion and levels need assessment. It is neither always possible nor always excluded.
When can furniture return?
Request a schedule based on adhesives, grout, site conditions and intended loads.
