Distinguish maintenance and inspection
The Environment Agency explicitly distinguishes maintenance from periodic inspections. Duties depend partly on installation type and output. Identify those for your equipment; an inspection duty does not establish a universal annual-contract obligation.
Compare a contract with a one-off visit
Request operations, schedule, exclusions, renewal and cancellation conditions. If priority repair is advertised, clarify scope and limits. Check parts, labour, travel and out-of-hours work separately.
