Quote: interior woodwork painting

Doors, skirting and stair treads face different use. Identify material, existing finish and surfaces to treat first. Treads need a coating suitable for foot traffic; a door paint is not automatically appropriate.

Identify material and old finish

Distinguish solid timber, veneer, painted board, laminate and PVC. Provide photographs, wear and known references. Rubbol BL Primer sets different conditions for old coatings and requires adhesion testing on PVC. Request preparation suited to the chosen system; primer does not make every surface suitable.

Describe doors and frames

List faces, edges, mouldings, glazing, frame and hardware. Agree working in place or removal, storage and refitting; neither method alone guarantees a better result. Check closing and function after work. Identify rooms requiring continued access.

Choose finish and preparation

Specify opaque colour or visible grain and matt, satin or gloss appearance. Lacquer does not automatically mean gloss or three to four coats. Request system reference, a sample where needed and preparation method. Have precautions assessed before sanding or stripping an unknown old coating.

Treat stairs as a circulation route

Separate treads, risers, strings, handrail and balustrade. Request suitability for use and slip characteristics without a fall-proof promise. Blanchon distinguishes recoating, light traffic and final hardness; obtain current instructions for the chosen product. Plan safe access during closure rather than automatically using half of each tread.

Separate technical equipment

Metal or electric radiators are not woodwork. If included, specify a separate item and system under appliance and coating instructions. Clarify shutdown, other trades if needed and recommissioning. At handover request colour references, permitted cleaning and temporary restrictions.

Indicative prices in Luxembourg

On quotation

Inventory elements and condition before comparing prices. A door may include one or two faces, edges and frame; a staircase includes more than its tread count. No local price per door or tread is established here.

Subsidies and grants

No grant is deducted from the budget shown here. If a quote mentions support, request the exact scheme and confirmation of your eligibility before including it in financing.

Frequently asked questions

Does lacquer mean gloss?

Not necessarily. Ask for the selected product's sheen.

Must a varnished door always be stripped?

Assess the existing coating and selected system; do not generalise one method.

When can stairs be used again?

Follow current instructions and site conditions, distinguishing permitted traffic from full cure.

Does a door price include the frame?

Only where faces, edges and frame are explicitly listed.
