Quote: béton ciré wall finish
E.g.: bathroom wall in polished concrete, polished concrete splashback

A decorative living-room wall and a shower wall need different project specifications. State where the finish will go and its water exposure. Mercadier's EBC project sheet says this coating does not replace prior shower waterproofing: the visible finish is part of the project.
Mark project zones
Identify dry wall, splashback, basin surround and shower interior on a plan or photos. Show retained parts too. Request a product and system suited to each use; similar photographs do not establish equivalent suitability.
Identify water protection
Mercadier distinguishes EBC decoration from prior shower waterproofing. Have the complete build-up, corners, pipe penetrations and each contractor's responsibilities described. This project sheet does not replace current technical instructions; its French references are not presented here as Luxembourg rules.
Inspect the existing finish
On old tiles, have adhesion, joints and damp marks assessed before choosing an overlay. Specify how condition and existing protection will be checked and what needs repair. A primer alone does not prove every wall can be retained.
Define appearance and details
Approve colour, variation, sheen and tool marks on a sample. Record niches, edges, junctions with other materials and joints to retain. Agree detailing and how the result will be assessed. Seamless appearance does not guarantee freedom from cracks or every physical junction.
Plan use after work
Separate completion of application, drying and first water exposure. Obtain permitted cleaning products and conditions for any protective finish renewal. Report damage instead of adding wax or resin without compatibility checks. Keep delivered system references.
Indicative prices in Luxembourg
On quotation
Separate preparation, water protection where required, decorative coating and compatible finish. No local average or bathroom package price is documented here. Compare offers covering the same walls, junctions and preliminary work.
Subsidies and grants
No grant is deducted from the budget shown here. If a quote mentions support, request the exact scheme and confirmation of your eligibility before including it in financing.
Frequently asked questions
Does béton ciré waterproof a shower by itself?
Do not assume so. Have the complete system confirmed; the cited EBC requires prior waterproofing.
Can it cover old tiles?
Only following assessment and confirmation of a suitable build-up, not automatically.
Does a continuous finish guarantee no cracks?
No. Have substrate and junctions assessed; the name provides no general guarantee.
When can the shower be used again?
At the time confirmed for the products and actual site conditions, distinct from application completion.
