Quote: timber skirting and wall trim
E.g.: E.g.: wood wainscoting matched to the existing flooring

First define the purpose: cover the floor-wall junction, replace an old moulding or panel the lower wall. Measure lengths and obstacles, then agree profile and appearance. A well-fitted standard profile may suit; bespoke manufacture should address a specific constraint or design.
Record junction details
List corners, short returns, door frames, radiators, pipes, sockets and level changes. Have wall condition and marks from old skirting assessed. Agree profile ends and joints; bespoke manufacture alone does not straighten a wall.
Choose from a sample
Compare section, thickness, timber or board, finish and fixing method. View a sample beside old flooring: an identical match to aged colour cannot be guaranteed. Painted contrast is another deliberate choice. Agree acceptable variation and cut-edge treatment.
Preserve floor movement
Quick-Step specifies fixing skirting to the wall rather than its parquet and maintaining required joints. Follow the actual floor’s instructions so trim does not restrict movement. Edge sealing must suit the system, not be improvised with rigid filler.
Draw panelling separately
Show height, panel layout, mouldings and opening junctions on an elevation. Check equipment access and any damp substrate before covering. Allow removal where service access must remain.
Agree handover checks
Define corners, joints, fixings and touch-ups without promising permanently invisible junctions. Check door opening, equipment access and unrestricted floor movement. Obtain care instructions for the selected finish.

On quotation
Compare matching profiles, materials, finishes and junctions. Low skirting per linear metre is not equivalent to panelling with mouldings. Itemise quantities, preparation and repairs after removal.
Subsidies and grants
No grant is deducted from the budget shown here. If a quote mentions support, request the exact scheme and confirmation of your eligibility before including it in financing.
Frequently asked questions
Is bespoke necessary?
Not always. Compare a suitable fitted standard profile with special manufacture.
Can it follow flooring installation?
Check sequence and joints for the floor system; skirting must not immobilise a floating floor.
Will colour match old flooring exactly?
No guarantee. Approve an in-room sample and acceptable variation.
Must flooring be removed?
Skirting can often be handled separately, but the survey must confirm fixings, access and junction condition.
