Refurbishing doors and drawer fronts changes their appearance. It does not by itself fix a poor layout, swollen cabinet or leak. Before selecting a finish, have retained cabinets assessed and identify visible sides, plinths, fillers and inner door faces.
Assess retained components
Have cabinet alignment and fixing, damp areas, swollen edges, joints and screw holding checked. Establish the cause of damage first. Photograph defects and agree repairs before ordering doors. Kitchen age alone is not a decision criterion.
Distinguish three interventions
Painting retains existing shape. Covering also requires a suitable substrate, including profiles and edges. New fronts allow different materials but require fixing checks. Agree a sample showing the actual finish, edges and inner face.
Specify suitable preparation
V33 prescribes substrate-dependent preparation for its kitchen furniture paint. Follow the proposed system, instructions and return-to-use conditions. A no-sanding marketing claim does not mean no preparation. A finish does not repair a damaged panel.
Check hinges and appliances
Blum uses front weight and height in its hinge quantity tables. A heavier door therefore does not automatically suit old mechanisms. Have drilling, thickness, overlay, opening and dishwasher front checked against existing references.
Arrange the intervention
Separate measuring, manufacture or workshop work, fitting and time before normal cleaning. Ask which doors will be removed, which appliances remain usable and how the worktop will be protected. At handover check alignment, rubbing, full opening and edge finishing.
