List rooms and priorities: floors, bathrooms, kitchen, dusting, laundry or ironing. Separate regular upkeep from a one-off deep clean. Floor area alone does not describe clutter or the time required.
Prepare the first visit
Describe occupied or empty rooms, access, floors, pets and delicate finishes. Rank tasks and identify excluded areas. Ask for explicit lines for windows, inside cupboards or the oven; these are not automatically part of routine cleaning.
Agree products and equipment
Specify who supplies the vacuum, consumables and suitable products. Mention fragrance or contact restrictions and confirm product references; ecological does not mean allergen-free. Describe ironing and care labels without assuming output per basket.
Arrange access and follow-up
Agree key handover and return, alarm instructions and a problem contact. Ask about absences, postponements, replacements and damage. Working while you are absent does not itself establish insurance cover. Adjust priorities after the first visit based on work actually completed.
Separate service and direct employment
If you employ someone directly, consult the CCSS private-household employee procedure. A service quote and net wages imply different relationships and charges. Independent business status is not synonymous with undeclared work.
